of top judges. (All of whom have, or had, a stammer)
Alex
Armitage Alex, a life long stammerer, is chief executive of the Noel
Gay Organisation and is responsible for helping to shape some of Britain's most
talented writers, performers and presenters. Described as 'a natural raconteur
and possessor of dry wit', Alex is also an accomplished producer responsible for
such hits as 'Me and My Girl'.
Dame Margaret
Drabble
Novelist, biographer and critic Margaret is a veteran in writing award winning
novels. An international best-selling authoress, she has recently returned from
judging the 2006 Whitbread Prize for literature. She was awarded a CBE in 1980
and is a former chairman of the National Book League. Margaret is a patron of
the British Stammering Association and we are delighted to have her support.
Dylan
Jones
Dylan Jones is the Editor of British GQ. He has been an Editor at
ID, The Face, Arena, The Observer and The Sunday Times. He has won the BSME Editor
of the Year award four times, once for his work on Arena (1993), and three times
for GQ (2001, 2002, 2004). His latest book, Mr Jones Rules has just been published.
David
Mitchell
His first novel, Ghostwritten won the John Llewellyn Rhys Prize
(for best work of British literature written by an author under 35) and was shortlisted
for the Guardian First Book Award. His two subsequent novels, number9dream and
Cloud Atlas, were both shortlisted for the Man Booker Prize. In 2003, he was selected
as one of Granta's Best of Young British Novelists. His latest novel, Black Swan
Green, was longlisted for the 2006 Man Booker Prize.
Norbert
Lieckfeldt Chief Executive of the British Stammering Association Norbert is
a person who stammers. He started working on the BSA helpline as a volunteer in
1993 and has been Chief Executive since 1999.
